Your last frost free date will be determined by how far you are from the ocean and the micro climate of your garden, but in general warm season crops like tomatoes, corn, beans and cucumbers should not be planted until the soil is warm in May and cool season crops such as lettuce, radish, beets and carrots can go into the ground in April or earlier. Flowers such as annual bloomers like bedding plants including geraniums, petunias, marigolds and impatiens need frost free nights so again wait until May but perennials that come back every year such as peonies, iris, daylilies and daisies can be planted as soon as you see them for sale at nurseries.
