Storing asparagus plants

Good Morning Marianne,
I purchased some Martha Washington Asparagus plants from Lowes. I live in Auburn, WA and I’m not sure when I should plant these. How can I keep them till I am ready to plant them? I don’t have the bed ready for them.

You can store the asparagus roots in a cool spot like an unheated garage inside a paper bag so they are damp but not wet. They should keep a couple of weeks but the night before you plant them soak the roots in a few inches of water to plump them up. Then try to get them planted as soon as possible because early spring is the best time for this perennial vegetable. Dig in and grow for it - Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
