Crab grass invasion

I live in Auburn WA and have trouble with crab grass. It is growing up in my plants and planter box. How can I get rid of it and not kill the plants?

The best way to remove grassy weeds is to hand pull the clumps after a rain when the soil is soft. You may want to use a dull butter knife to work your way between the grass clump and your plants and get all the roots of the grass. Weeding in the spring will keep these grasses from overtaking your beds in the summer. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
