mdumaine’s Question
Good Morning Marianne,
I am in Auburn WA and need to know what to do with my roses. I was probably suppose to do something before winter started. Thank you

No worries, your roses are resting and dormant during the winter. February through March is a good time to prune your roses and as roses are heavy feeders I like to start fertilizing all roses as soon as I see signs of new growth. You can watch me prune roses on a video through this site or you can just try to remember to remove all dead, diseased and damaged rose canes and shorten all branches by at least one third. If you have old roses that need a fresh start you can cut them down to stumps about 18 inches tall. Do not prune climbing roses this severely or they will not bloom well for a year. Keep in touch and I will guide you through the season rose care. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
