Congrats on your green thumb. To take slips or cuttings from the pinks (mini carnations also called dianthus) wait until after the plants finish flowering. Then cut off the faded flowers and stems and take cuttings about four inches long from the green growth. Pot up in one half potting soil and one half perlite and keep moist until roots form in about six weeks. Let potted plants rest in partial shade while they root. Add a slow release plant food to the soil once they are rooted and the new plants should be ready to go into the ground by next spring. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
