Moss on rhododendron branches

One of my rhodies has moss on its lower branches. There used to be more shade on the plant but some trees were removed next door. The moss is pretty but is it harmful to the plant? The moss comes off if I tug gently. Keep the moss or remove it? Thanks.

Keep the moss. It is not harming the rhododendron and may even store a bit of moisture raising the humidity around the plant. If more sun is hitting your rhodies you may see the moss disappear over time. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
