How to store and maintain dahlia tubers
Yesterday I dug up all 54 of my dahlia tubers for winter storage, and found most infected with small white scabs. Could it be the “Moodoo” fertilizer we used last spring? My husband tells me that potato farmers will not use organic manure to fertilize, as it may cause scabs. Should I store tubers and plant next spring? The flowers were beautiful this year. Attached are pictures. Thank you.

Thank you for sending the photo. I think your dahlia tubers will be fine if stored in a cool dry spot. I do not think the manure harmed them, but they do not need heavy manure or compost as dahlias like a light and sandy soil. Good luck, and I predict armloads of blossoms for you next summer.
