Congrats on becoming an orchid owner. I do not know what type of orchid you now own so I suggest you visit the library or online book store for a general guide on growing orchids. The care depends on what type you have purchased and a book with photos will help determine that. Most orchids like bright but indirect light, good drainage and not too much water - two ice cubes on top of the soil once a week is about right. They also need to rest after they bloom and prefer a slow release plant food like Osmocote. Many more details such as soil type and pruning will be found in a good guide-book.
