Those huge pots look great on your porch and there are many types of plants that could grow in them. I do recommend you visit a local nursery for planting ideas in Florida. I garden in a different zone than you and am not an expert on your climate. Even different parts of your state have different climate zones. A local garden center will be able to show you what phormiums, cordyline and cannas look like. These three plants would all do well in your area and are tall and strappy with a more contemporary look perfect for your modern looking containers. The other thing to consider is how much sun and how much water the pots would need.
