Gift lilies last longer if you remove any foil wrapping from the pot and keep the plant cool at night by setting it outdoors in a frost-free location. Once the blossoms fade cut them, but leave the long stem and leaves. You can transfer a potted lily into the garden when it is in a sunny but well-drained spot - no dampness or clay soil.
