Caring for althea bushes

How and where should I plant an althea bush and how do I care for it?

If you are talking about the Rose of Sharon althea, than I suggest you plant this hardy hibiscus in full sun to part sun with some protection from cold winds such as near a building. Be sure the soil does not dry out the first summer but after this shrub is established it should not need extra water if you have improved the soil with some compost at planting time. Fertilize each spring after you see signs of new growth using a slow release plant food like Osmocote. Now enjoy years of large bell-shaped blooms in late summer. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
