As a horticulturist I recommend a full spectrum plant food with both macro (those three numbers you used are for the amount of NP and K) and also micro nutrients (things like iron and boron) for plant growth. To make this simple just use Osmocote Plus fertilizer on your new plant and it will receive all the nutrients it needs but only as it needs them. A slow release plant food like Osmocote is the fool proof way not to over fertilize or under fertilize if you follow the instructions on the package. This is the best fertilizer on the market.
