Cactus with red blossoms?

I need the name of a small cactus that grows in my Santa Fe garden. It had red blossoms and is very prickly at the top. The green part of the cactus has a center at the top that has 6 to 8 whorls.

Your beautiful cacti looks like a type of prickly pear or Opuntia. There are more than 250 varieties of this cactus and it native to many parts of the Southwest. A visit to a local arboretum or large garden center may be the best way to positively ID your particular type of cactus. Enjoy and Keep Growing, Marianne Binetti
