Marianne's Response

Other plants with ground cover

I am looking for a low ground cover but also want to brighten it with another plant. A combination that is attractive to me is Little Beauty tulip and Irish Moss. Will Little Beauty grow through Irish Moss?

Thank you.

Yes! Tulips and daffodils are strong enough bulbs to grow through many groundcovers. Don't expect those tulips to return the following year however unless you remember they need to be in dry summer soil. This means if you water the moss during the summer the tulip bulbs below will most likely rot. Perhaps plant them in pots you can remove after they bloom or dig the bulbs in late spring after they bloom. Then store them over the summer in a cool dry spot and replant in the fall. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
