Oxalis too large
Hello,
Is there any way to keep an Oxalis plant from growing too big and leggy?
Can you divide the bulbs of an Oxalis?
Thank you

There are many types and sizes of Oxalis and some are grown as houseplants while others are used as groundcovers and still others are just invasive weeds. They grow from small bulbs that can be divided in the fall or early spring by breaking them apart and replanting a few inches apart. To keep the plant from growing to tall and leggy hold back on water and fertilizer. An indoor plant grown with low light will stretch tall in search of sunlight so grow it in brighter light. This plant needs a dormant or resting time and outdoors that would be in the winter. Indoors you can stop watering your oxalis after it blooms and it will drop its leaves and look dead while it goes dormant for a few months. Then add some water and you should see new growth begin again. If you send an image of your plant I will be better able to tell you which variety you have and give more specifics on the care of the oxalis or Sharmrock plant. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
