Are maple leaves acidic?

This fall we used fallen maple leaves to compost on the garden bed. How will these impact the nutrients in our soil? Are maple leaves acidic?

All leaf mold is a bit acidic but this is good for most plants and the rotting leaves will add tilth and earthworm activity to the beds. Are you using them on a vegetable bed? If so just work them into the top one foot of soil so they will rot quickly in the spring. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
