A sandy loam enriched with compost grows veggies and flowers well in raised beds. You can add organic matter such as compost to any type of soil to improve the texture and water holding capacity. The more sandy and lose the soil, the faster it will dry out, but the more clay and moisture the soil holds the slower it will be to warm up in the spring. You can make your own soil by mixing one part sand and one part compost.
Keep growing,
