Parking Lot Vegetables

Hi Marianne! Two friends and I care for a vegetable garden at Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Sammamish. It is comprised of three parking lot islands in the front of the church and last year we grew 500 pounds for Hopelink food bank. Next week the church has to resurface and repaint the parking lot. How can we best protect the vegetables?

Wow - what a great project and great use of space. Gardeners are amazing people. I would simply cover the crops with old sheets or light tarps to prevent and drift from settling on the produce. Then wash the veggies before using and they should be fine. You can also use sheets of plastic if the weather is not hot. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
