paullienesch’s Question
I have a shady area which contains astilbe, hostas and ferns. The shade was provided by a large maple treee which was recently taken down due to hurricane damage. It is now in full sun. I try to keep my plants as watered as possible but should I consider turning the areas into a sunny perennial area? Thank you.

Yes! Don't fight Mother Nature is the battle cry of the laid back gardener and you can transplant all your shade perennials to a cooler spot and start fresh with some colorful sun lovers. How about rubechias, salvias, lavender and ornamental grasses? These would all be drought resistant as well as sun loving. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
