Protect sprouting perennials from frost

Must I cover sprouting perennials for frost?

Marianne's Response

Yes, petunias are frost sensitive and although full grown plants that have hardened off or spent a few nights outdoors may survive a light frost, they will be stunted and grow poorly. It is best to cover with a light cloth before a frost moves in overnight and be sure to remove the covering in the morning so heat does not build up under the covering. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
