Marianne's Response

Why won’t hydrangeas bloom?

I cannot get my hydrangeas to bloom. I have fertilized and used organic matter. What do you suggest?

Marianne's Response

You are most likely pruning off the second year growth as many hydrangeas flower only on two year old wood. Do not prune this coming spring and see if you get a bounty of blossoms. To much shade or winters that are too cold are other reasons for a lack of hydrangea blossoms. May you have bushels of blooms in your future. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
