Osmocote is made to be mixed into the soil where moisture and heat will slowly release the nutrients. You can sprinkle it on top of the soil that your plants are growing in but do not put it on top of the plants themselves. Osmocote is not made for using in the water of rooting plants. Most plant cuttings will form from roots without adding fertilizer in the water.  Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
