Plant recommendations for front yard?

front yard

We just installed a retaining wall about 15’ x 9’, and intend to fill with landscape mix. Need help choosing plants, how many, and how to arrange them in our front yard. We live in central texas zone 8 and it has full sun all day. Would like a tree, perhaps a crepe myrtle or shantung maple. Favorite evergreens include abelia and/or junipers. We love Blue Daze and/or vinca. Any ideas would be appreciated

Marianne's Response

I love the stone edged island and how it matches the house. I suggest a contrast with dark foliage colors. Perhaps a crepe myrtle with darker purple leaves and red blooms. Surround with three low growing junipers in gray/blue and a thick bark mulch. Add color with heat tolerant annuals that do well in your area such as verbena, petunias, geraniums. It will be lovely. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
