How to Plant a Foxtail Palm
What kind of soil should I use to plant a foxtail palm? My soil is about 4 inches of sand and the rest clay.

Clay soil has poor drainage so you may need to add organic matter to loosen it up. The size of the palm that you plant will determine how deep of hole you need. A hole deeper than the pot by one half and three times as wide should give your palm enough good soil. Fill in the planting hole with a mix of sand, compost and some of the native clay.
