I have SLUGS. I’ve read a sesponse about SLUGS on your site. THey have been eating my marigolds for a couple years and I did not know what was happening.
Well the area was shaded by a tree most of the afternoon, the tree is gone now. NO MORE SHADE here at all. Do you think I will have to resort to beer or the fact the the tree being removed could make it hostile for the slugs ? Also it if is the yeast that attracts them why can’t I just mix yeast and water instead of buying beer ?

Good news for you. There is now a pet and animal safe slug bait that really works and uses iron phosphate as the ingredient. I use \"Nature\'s Care Slug Bait\" but other trade names are Sluggo and WorryFree slug bait. Follow the instructions and sprinkle it near but not onto the plants. Yeast will attract but not kill all the slugs. Removing the shade may not make the slugs disappear - they can find shade under the soil and in grass. Try the safe slug bait with iron phosphate and let us know how it works - really in my garden I am now enjoying hostas with no slug holes in the leaves. Keep growing, Marianne Bintti
