Prechilled tulip bulbs
A friend brought me 24 prechilled tulip bulbs from Holland that say to “plant now.” I live in zone 8a, so “now” means daily temperatures in the 80’s-90’s. I wouldn’t think the tulips would do well in that kind of heat. Is there any way I can save them to plant in the fall when the temps are down?

No, do not save those tulip bulbs. Get them into the ground or containers and grow in a shaded location. You can also try growing them indoors once they bud so that the heat will not fade the blooms so quickly. Tulips do best in cool spring areas but gardening is an adventure so go ahead and try to fool Mother Nature. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
