Plum trees need very little pruning when young and then just thinning out to keep an open vase shape as they grow older. Peach trees need to be pruned to form an open shape with no branches in the center for best air circulation. You can prune fruit trees in early spring before they leaf out and in some areas they can be pruned in the fall. Any branch that is damaged or diseased can be pruned any time of the year. The best advice on pruning in your area depends on your climate. Don't worry if you have trees that have not been pruned or are very young.
