Recommend Plant

I live in Southwestern Kentucky. Summers are very hot and humid, Winters are cold and sometimes snowy. I have a planter that needs some plants that can withstand heat and cold and don’t have to be replaced every year. It gets the afternoon sun and is next to the house which is brick.(hot!) Can you recommend something that can survive these extremes? Thank you.

I am not sure how much room you have but heat tolerant shrubs include hypericum, barberry and rock rose. If you wanted flowers look for lantana, sedums and iceplant. Another idea is to look for a similar situation in your area at an office building or other professionally landscaped place and see what plants are thriving. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
