Redoing a 5 ft front of a condo Garden
I have approximately 5 ft Garden area in front of my condo. I am a new owner the garden was there prior to my ownership. Due to hurricane Ida contractors came in to redo the siding and destroyed the garden. I have replaced with topsoil and put edging before I could do anything else it began to rain very hard. There is a lone standing bush and all the soil washed away from that. I pushed this all back up and was going to put another layer of garden soil. What do I need to do to keep the soil in place before I get to put the plants down. I know more about potted plants first time for a small garden. Any advice would be greatly appreciated thank you.

In very wet areas you need a heavy mulch to keep soil in place during downpours. I would suggest large sized gravel rocks, at least the size of a walnut but even larger would be better. Rocks the size of your fist can be ordered from landscape supply companies. The gravel mulch will help with drainage as well. Then you might want to just add some pots sitting on flat stepping stones and a bench or birdbath to the area. Now you can plant flowers and shrubs in containers rather than the flood prone ground. Good for you for not letting this challenge stop you from creating a garden. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
