How to save a sapling
How do I save a Hazel sapling that my husband accidentally cut off three inches from the ground? I saved the part cut off and have it in water, hoping to get some rooting hormone and see if I can save it that way, but I wonder if it will grow back from the “stump.”

Don't worry, I suspect the stump will send up new shoots in a couple of weeks. The good news is that spring is the right time to make a pruning mistake as the surge of new growth will go a long way towards covering up any pruning mistakes. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
