Reseeding coneflowers

Can I use the dried flower tops to seed coneflowers on another part of our land?

Yes, coneflowers are a meadow plant that can be grown from seed or divisions. Just harvest the seed heads and let them dry out of the rain before collecting the dry seed from the seed heads and dispersing them onto your land in the fall. They will need moist soil to germinate so a dry spell after you scatter seed can really be detrimental to your quest for a wild flower meadow. The young seedlings will not be able to compete with other grasses and plants already in a meadow so clearing an area of land so that there is bare soil in the seeded area will give the seeds and the new seedlings the best start at surviving.
