Marianne's Response
Rose of Sharon plans
I have about five rose of Sharon plants that are all in pots. They were doing well until we had so much rain in Florida while I was away, that they all are yellowing. I drained them real good and took them out of the direct sun for now. Not sure whether I should repot them into larger pots Or just leave them alone and keep an eye on them. I added just a touch of liquid nitrogen fertilizer hoping to green them up again. Is there anything else I can do. Greg

Sounds like you do all the right moves. My only thought is to make sure the potted plants do not sit in drainage water by raising the pots up slightly. You can use traditional pot feet or just recycle the tops of plastic water bottles by making a circle of them and sitting your pots on top of the bottle caps. Drainage is often slowed when a pot becomes heavy with rain water and the drainage hole becomes blocked. Do not repot into larger containers at this time. Transplanting is always a stress and your plants are still recovering from their near drowning experience. You should be able to move them back out to the sunshine in a week or so.
