How to protect azaleas from black bark disease
My wife believes her azalea have dreaded black bark disease. i purchased insecticidal soap but would like to make my own soap. What would be the most effective ingredients for a powerful soap that works but would also not kill beneficial insects?

I wish I could help you but I am not familiar with black bark disease and cannot recommend mixing up a powerful soap that would not harm beneficial insects. Perhaps you could try keeping the azaleas well watered this summer and clipping off the new growth of your azaleas right after they bloom. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
