Marianne's Response

SandyP-question

Marianne,
I was reading that you like Primroses.
Would you advise me how I can over-Winter them?
I have a few in a pot.
Also, I understand you have some raised beds and grow
winter vegetable crops. Which vegetables do well for
you here in the Pacific Northwest (where I live, too).

Marianne's Response

I love the hardy primroses called Juliana hybrids or Wanda hybrids because they are cold hardy and I also have candelabra and species primroses and a great new purple and white cultivar called Tie Die\" that have all overwintered in my zone 7 garden without protection. It is the hybrid primroses with the giant blooms in primary colors that seem to die out. Put some extra organic material into the soil like compost and water well in the late summer and then enjoy your primrose path to gardening success! \"
