Marianne's Response

Why do my fruit trees have a gel-like substance on them?

What causes my fruit to have a gel-like substance on it … and, how can I get rid of it?

Marianne's Response

What type of fruit has the gel on it? There are some scab diseases that can cause dark oozing spots on melons and other fruit. The scab spores can overwinter and often cause problems when you fail to rotate crops. Cold damp weather can also encourage scab disease. Collect and destroy all infected fruit and plant in a fresh location the following year. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
