Marianne's Response
Aphids invading my pumpkin patch
I have a beautiful pumpkin patch. Alas, there is an aphid invasion. I tried an organic nightshade formula of equal parts tomato leaves and water. It didn’t do much. I recruited some ladybugs from my sunflowers and they have stayed, but I think the aphids outnumber my “ladies.” The aphids have destroyed a small part of my patch and I fear they will destroy more. Any natural tips for me?

Try pinching the aphids if they congregate on the buds and also washing them off with a strong jet of water. The good news is as the weather warms up the aphid explosion may slow down and your pumpkins will outgrow the little suckers. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
