Wrapping tomato plants in plastic to protect them from wind
Hi Marianne,
I am Darleen. I have a tomato plant dropping limbs in a barrel. We have been having a lot of wind. Could that be the reason? I have one on the other side of house it is looking great.
Thank you,
Darleen

Hi Darleen,
Tomato plants love heat and warmth. My guess is that the wind has chilled the poor plant and if branches are falling off you need to move it or protect it now. One solution is to surround the plant with a metal tomato cage and then cover the cage with a thin, clear plastic bag like the type used at a dry cleaners. Leave the top of the bag open for air circulation. You can clip the stumps off of any missing branches as tomatoes will regrow new foliage once the weather warms up with less wind. Remove the plastic when summer weather and less wind arrives.
Keep growing,
