When it comes to deer resistant shrubs the yew is the most often used evergreen for screening as there are many forms of yew and this shade tolerant evergreen can grow to 15 feet tall and half as wide. The narrow growing yews that look like green columns may be your best bet as they will need little pruning to keep them tidy. This disadvantage is that yews are not known for their fast growth so you may want to use a temporary screen or bamboo fencing as you wait a few years for your newly planted yews to fill in the space.
