I can only see the stem end of your squash in the photo and it looks like it may be a mini Butternut squash. The fruit ripens from green to dark orange as fall arrives. These more compact winter squashes are just 5 inches long. I am not sure how large the squash is in your garden. Gardening is a great adventure and sometimes it is nice to be surprised  about what you can harvest at the end of the season. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
