Marianne's Response

Star Jasmine

I moved my Jasmine plant from container to ground about 1 1/2 years ago. It has never bloomed, even the pot. My Sun & water conditions are good, I use miracle grow to feed.

Marianne's Response

The image of your jasmine plant looks like it is doing well so the lack of flowers could be just its lack of maturity. My own star jasmine took 5 years to flower but now blooms every year in a container. Now here is my second tip. This vine blooms best when root bound so growing it in a container is a good idea. Third, a lack of warm weather could be preventing flower formation. This plant likes day time temps to be around 70 degrees before setting buds. I keep my plant close to the house on a covered porch to trick it into flowering despite the fact that I live in the cool summer climate of the Pacific Northwest. I also fertilize with Osmocote Plus in May, prune it back by at least one third in April and then see fragrant flowers by July.   It will be worth the wait so hang in there. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
