Marianne's Response

My roses were awful this year so I have decided to start over. Where can I get a list of disease and pest resistent tea roses for the NW

Marianne's Response

I often write about the best roses in my weekly newspaper column. The ones that do best for our cool climate are the pink roses with no fragrance such as The Fairy, Queen Elizabeth, and also Peace, The Flower Carpet Roses, the wild rosa rugosa, the shade tolerant Zephrine doughlin (an old rose) and any of the disease resistant shrub roses. Most of the David Austen roses also do well here, especially the variety Graham Thomas. I can't promise you a rose garden but I can promise these do well for most gardeners. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
