Sungron-question
Yesterday I noticed foot-tall mounds of loose dirt about ten feet apart in my garden area. There was no evidence of burrows. Has the dreaded mole come to visit or is this something else?

Holey moley! Sounds like super mole has been feasting on worms in your nice soft garden soil. No worries now as the mole is loosening the soil for spring planting for you. But before you plant seeds capture that critter with a trap so that his burrows do not undermine new seedlings. Not sure where you live but gophers can also make mounds.
