Marianne's Response
Sungron-question
The surface of my garden developed patches of what looks like little tough green scales. Weed killer doesm’t seem to affect it much. Is there something I can do besides scrape it off and dispose of it?

No worries, you may not like it, but you have lichen. This fungus among us grows on damp soil in shaded spots. A quick fix besides turning it under is to cover your soil now with a mulch such as wood chips or bark that not only covers the lichen but also helps loosen up and improve the drainage of your topsoil. Loosening the soil with a hoe will also add air and better drainage. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
