No worries, you may not like it, but you have lichen. This fungus among us grows on damp soil in shaded spots. A quick fix besides turning it under is to cover your soil now with a mulch such as wood chips or bark that not only covers the lichen but also helps loosen up and improve the drainage of your topsoil.
