Marianne's Response

Sungron’s Question

I’ve grown tomatoes off and on with varying success, relying mainly on sun, fertilizer and luck. I have thinned them to two or three per cluster, but have heard that thinning the blossoms before the tomatoes form is more effective. Does that make sense?

I do not recommend plucking off the tomato blossoms unless you are trying to get really big tomatoes. The blossoms help to attract pollinating insects. If you must thin, I would wait until the fruit sets and remove the tomatoes rather than the blossoms. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
