How to use lime in garden soil

I became a true believer in lime for tomatoes when I saw how it improved my crop the past couple of years. Thanks! I also plan to grow cucumbers, beans and a few varieties of squash this year. Would I be smart to use lime on that portion of the garden as well?

Yes, if you live in an area with naturally acid soil like the Pacific Northwest or if your soil is acid due to heavy rainfall a yearly application of lime will help the nutrients in your soil become more available to the veggies. The only exception would be blueberries which like rhododendrons and azaleas love acid soil. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
