How to exterminate moles and voles
Holy Moley!! Our whole neighborhood has been taken over by moles or voles or the other thing I can’t remember the name of and they are leaving mounds of dirt and holes all over our yards. Is there something viable we can do or do we just have to wait until they move on?

It is time to learn how to set a mole trap - and also some mouse traps to control the voles or field mice. The scissor type of mole trap seems to work best and the old fashioned mouse trap works great on voles. Your other option is to live with the damage and take heat that these critters are aerating the soil for you. Some gardeners report success with castor oil sold as a product called Mole Away or something similar. The castor oil does not kill the moles, just encourages them to move on - for awhile. Chewing gum and hair in the tunnels does not work, nor do I recommend gas or fire bombs. If you do not have the heart to set a mole trap you can hire an exterminator that will do it for you and charge you by the number of moles they capture. Good luck!
