Marianne's Response
Shoots on fig tree
My fig tree has produced shoots about 15 feet tall right up the middle next to the trunk. Should I cut these back to maximize the number of figs the tree produces or should I leave them there to possibly develop into productive branches?

Marianne's Response
Cut off these runaway shoots any time of year. They rarely produce figs and you will get a better crop from the side branches. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
