Sweet Potatoes in Southwest Louisiana raised bed

I have two small sweet potatoes with a thick vine growing out of it. I wanted to plant these in my new raised bed. How do I plant these ? In the front I have sweet banana peppers and tomatoes. I put a raised soil lines behind those veggies. My soil will be about sixteen inches deep.
Please help and thanks for your time. Jeannie Drouilhet

Congratulations on starting new sweet potatoes. The best way to add them to your raised bed is to dig a hole twice as deep and as wide as the roots on the new plants and then set the sweet potato into this hole and cover the top of the tuber with two to three inches of soil.  It will take a few weeks for the plant to settle in but then you should see lots of new growth. Sweet potatoes like sun and heat but from what you describe already growing in the area I think you have the perfect spot to add sweet potatoes. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
