Tasty tomatoes

I recently read your advice to water tomatoes when the ground was dry an inch or inch and a half below the surface. Is it reasonable to assume that overwatering will result in loss of flavor when they ripen?

Yes, tomatoes that are overwatered will have more water stored in the fruit and many tasters (there really are contests to find the best tasting tomatoes) claim that too much water dilutes the flavor. Any home grown tomato is going to be delicious however so don't worry about this too much. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
