Yes. Cover the young beets with agricultural fleece or Reemay to keep the flying insects from laying their eggs on the seedlings and the larvae hatching. Some beetle type insects are also repelled by a light dusting of baking flour or by planting onions as a companion crop. It all depends on what type of insect is bothering the beets - but at least you know some leaf damage can be acceptable despite how it looks. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
